Hidden behind that nondescript acronym is a name that’s not afraid to dream big: it stands for Soul, Community, Planet, and with an ethos like that it’s perhaps not a great surprise that SCP Depoe Bay should be an environmentally designed, socially conscious, aesthetically minimalist boutique hotel. It’s aimed a younger and more adventurous traveler than the typical Oregon Coast hotel, and it’s small enough — just six double rooms and a few more in shared/hostel style — to keep guests from feeling anonymous. A co-working space called SCP Commons caters to the remote-work lifestyle, and a café and bar are in the works.
