County Kildare’s Cliff at Lyons is home to a collection of historic mill buildings — now housing the reception, a restaurant, a bar, and a boutique — as well as a series of wisteria-covered manor houses and stone cottages that contain guest rooms and suites. Picturesque courtyards, gardens, and water features add to the scenic charm, including a lily pond and a stream that runs through the property. The manor house rooms are elegant and classic with a modern twist: parquet floors, bright white finishes, chrome fixtures, velvet headboards, and bathrooms with oversized rainfall showers. Some have antique wooden furnishings and floor-to-ceiling windows overlooking the lily pond. Cottages are cozy and rustic-chic with quaint features like fireplaces, hidden staircases, and four-poster beds. Cozier than the gracefully appointed rooms in the main house, they’re equipped with kitchens and multiple bedrooms. The hotel’s signature restaurant is located in the stateliest of Cliff at Lyons’ old buildings, with adjacent garden seating for al fresco dining, while the Well in the Garden, a two-story spa with a fireplace-warmed relaxation room, is housed in a rose-clad stone building nearby.
