It’s hard to think of a hospitality concept better suited to the times than AutoCamp — purveyors of luxe Airstream trailers and stylish freestanding cabins, set in adventure-ready locations beloved by experience-hungry young travelers. AutoCamp Catskills, just outside of Saugerties, brings the luxury-boutique camping experience to upstate New York; accommodations include the aforementioned trailers and cabins as well as upscale “X Suites” and summertime-only canvas tents. All of them show an attention to design that’s missing from the great majority of outdoor-focused lodgings; the Airstreams are beautifully minimalist-chic, while the cabins are handsomely modern-rustic. There’s a central lodge, the Clubhouse, that houses the General Store as well as the Kitchen — the former selling local beer, wine, and snacks, and the latter serving three meals a day as well as Grill Kits and s’mores ingredients for self-catering by the fireside. The property itself spans some 37 acres of idyllic Hudson Valley landscape, and offers access to hundreds of miles of hiking trails within easy driving distance. Bikes are available for self-guided exploration, and back on site you’ll find yoga classes as well as live music.
