About Casa Japa
Three centuries ago, this was a parish house for the church next door. In 2021, a couple who had followed their family tree all the way to Campeche's colonial streets found it, fell for it, and spent the next few years bringing it back. It was done carefully enough that the 18th-century double arcade, original timber beams, tiled floors and wrought-iron fences all survived. The result is four rooms with whitewashed walls, black-framed beds and bold monochrome floors, plus a rooftop with a small pool and a dining table for ten looking out over a UNESCO-listed skyline.
