Everything about Hotel Villa Fanny is surprising, from the name to the setting, right in the heart of central Cagliari, an urban location that doesn’t stop the villa’s grounds from spreading out over a thousand square meters of gardens. It’s set within easy walking distance of the medieval city center and the marina, and yet it maintains an atmosphere more akin to country-house calm, a welcome contrast indeed. The villa itself has been beautifully preserved and attractively updated; as is typical in Italian boutique hotels, historical architecture and contemporary design go happily hand in hand. Rooms vary, as they often do in antique houses, from cozy double bedrooms to expansive suites, including one that stretches out across two levels.
