It’s only right that Burgundy should have some extraordinary hotels to match its extraordinary wines. Les Sources de Vougeot certainly doesn’t lack for atmosphere — in a former life it was a priory, the residence of the Cîteaux Abbots, and is set within the walls of the Château de Gilly, which is in turn close to the village of Vougeot and, more importantly, the famous Clos de Vougeot vineyard. Of course there’s more to it than its setting. A thorough renovation, completed in 2026, turned the existing property into a state-of-the-art 49-room luxury hotel whose accommodations combine heritage architecture, contemporary-classic interior design, and high-end modern comforts into one compelling package. Wine features prominently in the experience, not just at the table but in the Caudalie spa as well, which is crafted from the old vaulted cellars of the château. Meanwhile in classic French style Les Sources de Vougeout features two restaurants: the slightly more casual Auberge des Cîteaux and the fine-dining Clos de la Tour.
