About Denpaku The Beachfront Mijora
For aesthetes, the Beachfront Mijora is a coastal holiday destination par excellence; thirteen separate beachfront villas on the subtropical island of Amami Oshima, each one standing as a striking, live-in monument to modernist design. Each building has full-length windows on the relevant side, opening out onto the beachline, with seven of the villas lined with trees, mitigating any ocean glare. Apart from the concrete exteriors, exposed timber ceilings and a wooden deck provide the natural accents that form a bridge to the twenty-four-hour show that is the beach — no TVs are provided here. Essentials are provided in each room, with a bath and kitchenette, with the proprietors urging guests to venture out and procure locally grown ingredients themselves for beachfront meals.
