    About the event

A 12-guest Poggio di Sotto library dinner

This is a seated library tasting and dinner built around Poggio di Sotto, with winemaker Leonardo Berti leading a 12-guest table in 67 Pall Mall’s Marlborough Room. The program follows the estate’s Brunello di Montalcino back to the 1995 vintage, with the wines served alongside a five-course seasonal menu created by Executive Chef Dan Page.

Brunello, Rosso and Riserva from the cellar

The pour list moves from 2024 Grattamaco Bianco into Poggio di Sotto Rosso di Montalcino and Brunello di Montalcino, including several bottles identified as being served from magnum. The named lineup includes 2023 and 2006 Rosso di Montalcino, 2021, 2020, 2009 and 2004 Brunello di Montalcino, plus 2019 and 1995 Brunello di Montalcino Riserva.

Poggio di Sotto is presented here through Sangiovese and traditional Brunello methods: long maceration, large Slavonian oak and extended ageing. The estate is described as having formed its holdings through selected vineyards in the cooler, southern part of Montalcino, with an emphasis on texture, perfume and finesse rather than overt power or oak.

Leonardo Berti at 67 Pall Mall

Leonardo Berti’s role gives the dinner a direct winemaking perspective on Poggio di Sotto. He graduated in Viticulture and Enology at the University of Florence, worked as an assistant winemaker at Antinori’s Tignanello estate, and has overseen winemaking at both Tenuta San Giorgio and Poggio di Sotto since San Giorgio was acquired by ColleMassari in 2016.

    • The schedule lists a welcome reception, dinner start and dinner end in the Marlborough Room on Monday 19th October.
