Purdey shoot day at Well Barn Estate

Four driven game drives

This additional shoot day is organised by 67 Pall Mall in partnership with James Purdey & Sons at Well Barn Estate. The format is limited to nine Guns and built around four driven game drives targeting pheasants and partridges across the Chiltern Valleys.

The day is described as a January shoot towards the end of the season, with approximately 150 birds. That smaller bag is presented as part of a steadier pace in the field.

• The published itinerary starts at 09:00 with coffee and breakfast at the shoot lodge, then a 09:45 briefing before the first drives.

Field elevenses and lunch at the lodge

Elevenses in the field includes homemade soup, pheasant samosas, wild boar and apple sausage rolls, and chocolate fudge, paired with NV Domaine Evremond Classic Cuvée.

Lunch at the shoot lodge features Home Estate venison haunch, shoulder pie, celeriac, greens and jus, paired with Meursault and Crozes-Hermitage wines. Dessert is sticky toffee madeleine with salted caramel and caramel ice cream, followed by a cheese selection.

Wine pairings selected by Federico Moccia

The lunch wines come from the 67 Pall Mall cellar and are selected by Federico Moccia, Head of Wine Operations. The estate lunch is part of the day’s hospitality, alongside the field service earlier in the programme.

Well Barn Estate in the Chiltern Valleys

Well Barn Estate is described with deep valleys, high game crops and ancient woodland, and the location given is Moulsford, Wallingford, OX10 9JR. The day ends with game cards and a brace of oven-ready birds at 16:30.
