About VERBENICUM
Vrbnik has been clinging to its cliff above the Adriatic since at least the 12th century. A former Frankopan stronghold, it was also one of the great centers of Glagolitic script: the ancient Slavic alphabet Croatian priests were still printing in as late as 1494. Verbenicum's 19 suites and rooms in this medieval town on the island of Krk feature herringbone parquet, charcoal linens, ochre cushions, and abstract monochrome artwork. An on-site integrative medicine practice offers personalized health protocols lasting up to three weeks, a library stocked with world literature provides an analogue counterpoint, and a heated outdoor pool looks out over the Mediterranean garden below.
