About Hotel \u0026 Spa Suiten FreiWerk
High on a wooded hilltop overlooking the medieval village of Stolberg, a German shipping magnate built an elegant half-timbered villa to use as a summer residence. More than a century later, this historic property was converted into the Hotel & Spa Suiten FreiWerk, a luxury retreat with easy access to the hiking and cycling trails of the surrounding Harz Mountains. Some rooms in the main building are modern and sleek with monochromatic murals, white marble bathrooms, and panoramic windows facing the treetops, while others, like the charmingly wood-paneled tower room or the cozy attic suite in the restored coachman’s house next door, have historic character. Sustainably built two-story spa suites, each one with its own Finnish sauna and open-air whirlpool tub, offer extra space and privacy. Breakfast is served in the light-filled restaurant, and self-guided mountain biking itineraries leave right from the front door.
