It’s a two-hour drive north of the Brazilian city of Maceió, but laid-back Pousada do Toque feels like it’s in the middle of nowhere. And that’s a big part of its appeal. White sand, clear turquoise water, hammocks swinging between palm trees, a blue-tiled swimming pool facing the ocean: this beachfront boutique hotel has everything you need for a few lazy days of swimming, reading, and dozing in a chaise lounge. Suites and chalets are more than comfortable, outfitted with crisp white linens and dark wood panels; all have patios, and some also feature private pools. But when the natural setting is this idyllic, there’s no need for extra amenities or embellishment.
