The Bull on Bell Street

Rather than treating Henley-on-Thames as a drive-in stop, this is the kind of stay that makes sense when being able to move around town on foot matters. The Bull on Bell Street is documented as a historic pub with boutique accommodation Henley, with ten brand-new bedrooms and a private house for stays that need more self-contained space.

The clearest reason to choose it is practicality: staying here puts the town within walking range, which helps avoid the parking and travel friction that can come with a Henley visit. The pub heritage is not just styling either; the Brakspear history attached to the site reaches back to the early 19th-century Henley brewing trade, including the 1812 move of the brewery from Bell Street to New Street.

Book for the central pub stay, not a destination dining claim

The setting is the visible draw: a historic pub format paired with new rooms, rather than a standalone country-house hotel experience. In-room details are concrete and useful: Bramley toiletries, Nespresso machines, flat-screen TVs, free Wi-Fi and complimentary still water. Those are the signals that this is aiming at a comfortable short stay, not just a room above a bar.

Dining should be treated with caution as a deciding factor because no audited menu, chef, cuisine style, pricing or awards are available here. The safer read is to book for the Henley location, pub character and accommodation setup. Dog owners get a specific plus: some rooms can accommodate dogs, with water bowls and treats provided.
