While much of the world has had an eye on the booming East Berlin scene, the old West hasn’t been quiet, either. Like so many Charlottenburg boutique hotels, Henri Hotel Berlin Kurfürstendamm is set just off the iconic shopping boulevard, in this case in a 19th-century building, which dictated the Belle Epoque style of the interiors — the look is sumptuous, eclectic vintage-chic, with nary a whiff of minimalism about it. A handful of residential-style “salons” offer space for lounging and socializing, and the kitchen prepares a hearty breakfast buffet; the neighborhood is packed with cafés, bars, and restaurants for lunch and dinner.
