A Piedmont-inspired BYOB dinner at 67 Pall Mall with Federico Moccia, Nelson Pari and guest winemakers from Trediberri, Fontanafredda and Borgogno.
BYOB with the Barolo Boys is a Piedmont-inspired autumnal dinner hosted by 67 Pall Mall in the St James’s Room. Members are invited to bring a bottle or magnum of Barolo to accompany a four-course dinner, so the shared bottle is part of the format rather than an add-on.
Head of Wine Operations Federico Moccia and Nelson Pari host the evening, which is dedicated to Barolo. They are joined by Nicola Oberto of Trediberri and Andrea Farinetti of Fontanafredda and Borgogno, bringing together two guest winemakers with different producer backgrounds in one programme.
The producer notes attached to the event point to the broader Barolo landscape. Trediberri was founded in 2007, is organically certified, and sits on the western edge of La Morra with holdings in Rocche dell’Annunziata. Fontanafredda was founded in 1858 in Serralunga d’Alba, while Borgogno dates to 1761 and is known for long fermentations and extended ageing in large oak cask.
Executive Chef Dan Page has designed the dinner around the Barolo bottles members bring. Named dishes include Vitello Tonnato, Foraged Mushroom and Black Truffle Risotto, and cheeses from Paxton & Whitfield; the menu detail also names Comté gougères with Mornay cheese sauce and a Vitello Tonnato starter with rosé veal, tuna and anchovy sauce, pickled mushrooms, caper berries, crispy capers and Parmesan.
