A Sotheby’s-conducted charity wine auction in Beaune offering Burgundy cuvées in barrel lots from the Hospices’ own vineyards.
The auction is the grand finale of Burgundy’s Trois Glorieuses weekend, centered on barrel lots from the Hospices’ own vineyards. Organized by Hospices Civils de Beaune in partnership with Sotheby’s, it brings négociants, collectors, and philanthropists into a charity auction format where winning bids support medical care and historic preservation.
The sale offered 552 lots in total, including 539 wine lots: 428 barrels across 34 red wine cuvées, 111 barrels across 18 white wine cuvées, and 11 barrels of eaux-de-vie. A 52nd cuvée, Clos de Vougeot Grand Cru, Cuvée François Faiveley, was introduced through a donation by the Faiveley family.
The Pièce des Présidents was a unique 228-liter barrel of Pommard Premier Cru Les Rugiens. Its proceeds benefited the EHCO association and the Robert-Debré Children’s Brain Institute.
Aurélie Vandevoorde of Sotheby’s served as auctioneer, with Ludivine Griveau named as the Hospices de Beaune estate manager and winemaker, and Guillaume Koch named as director of Hospices Civils de Beaune. Cédric Klapisch, Vincent Lacoste, Alice Taglioni, and Martin Solveig were listed as celebrity presidents and charity ambassadors.
The auction was conducted as a live in-person charity sale under Sotheby’s hammer, with room, telephone, and online bidding. In-person hall attendance at Halles de Beaune seated approximately 700 attendees, with advance registration and seat requests required through Sotheby’s.
The auction sells barrel lots, known as Pièces, from the Hospices’ own vineyards, including red and white Burgundy cuvées from the new harvest.

The 166th Hospices de Beaune charity wine auction takes place at the Halles de Beaune on November 15, 2026 at 2:30pm CET. Sotheby’s offers Burgundy wines in 228-litre barrels, with proceeds supporting hospital care and heritage. Auction-room seats are available on request; bidding registration is required. This is a separate event from TERRA and the evening gala, and a new edition: not a replacement for the 165th sale in 2025.
The official gala dinner following the 166th Hospices de Beaune auction begins at 9pm CET on November 15, 2026 at the Hôtel-Dieu. Reservations must be in even numbers, up to 12 guests per account. Seating is assigned across the Bastion médiéval, Chambre du Roy and Salle Saint-Nicolas. Payment confirmation alone is not the invitation; the organizer also sends a booking voucher. Refund cancellations are accepted through November 8. Price and current inventory must be checked with the organizer. This is not TERRA’s October 24 gala.
