About Baglio Oneto
Once a fortified residence home to one of Italy’s noblest families, and still owned by its descendants today, Baglio Oneto celebrates the region’s long tradition of Marsala wine making, although staying here isn’t limited to just oenophiles. The hotel’s picturesque spot on the coast of western Sicily, surrounded by 35,000 square meters of vineyards, ancient olive trees, and various flora and fauna, suits anyone looking to slow down and switch off. As do the facilities, which include a saltwater infinity pool with a view across the Stagnone Nature Reserve and Egadi Islands. The 47 rooms sport rich green shades that nod to the olive trees outside and come decorated with traditional Sicilian touches such as colourful ceramics and hand-crafted wrought iron. The views are quite something, especially from the balconies and terraces which sit right above the vineyards and countryside. Sicilian, Italian and Mediterranean dishes crafted with organic local produce and the hotel’s own herbs are served each evening, either in the wooden beamed restaurant or al fresco in the historic stone walled courtyard or on the terrace. By day a number of experiences can be organized on property, including cooking classes, yoga sessions, massages and of course, wine tastings, but there’s plenty to explore around the resort too, from horse riding and kite surfing to day trips to Marsala.
