Not a renovated courtyard motel but a purpose-built courtyard-style boutique hotel, Cotton Court is the work of the savvy Texas-based Valencia Hotel Group, and is by a considerable distance the most stylish hotel in Lubbock. It’s set a mile from the Texas Tech campus, and close to the nightlife-centered Depot District. The rooms are contemporary and quasi-urban in style, though with plenty of West Texas character, and the suites are not just larger but more decadent, with freestanding tubs and cozy velour sofas. Midnight Shift, the restaurant and bar, is a lively local fixture, and the hotel features live music and plentiful outdoor lounge space.
