About The Tempus\u002c Northumberland
Sitting in the Northumberland countryside just an hour outside Newcastle, The Tempus is a surprisingly new addition to the historic Charlton Hall Estate. Whilst the estate dates back to the 19th century, as does its wedding venue property Charlton Hall, The Tempus has been built from scratch using original stone, slate and timber from the domain’s old farm buildings, meaning it still has the air of a charming country house, albeit a modern version of one. Inside the 52 eclectic bedrooms also feel contemporary with a mish mash of stripes, florals, and leopard print paired with beamed ceilings and stone fireplaces. The Orangery is the hotel’s signature restaurant, serving classic British dishes, Sunday roasts and afternoon tea, or there’s the Tipi, which is as the name suggests a large outdoor tipi, for wood-fired pizzas in summer and winter-themed pop-ups.
