About Thompson San Antonio
From a single hotel in downtown Manhattan to a family that spans North America, Thompson Hotels is still going strong. Now under the Hyatt umbrella, the brand has brought its distinctive mid-century-influenced style to Texas — and brought a bit of Texas into its style at the same time. Thompson San Antonio stands tall above the River Walk, home to the city’s finest restaurants, bars, cafés, and shops, and its interiors, modernist though they may be, are adapted to the locale, filled with rugged textures in wood, leather, and stone. Vast windows mean impressive views as well as plentiful sunlight, tamed by the rich, dark colors of the bedrooms. The ordinary king rooms are swanky and spacious, and the suites are positively extravagant, featuring lavish touches like freestanding soaking tubs, fully stocked wet bars, or spa-like bathrooms with jetted tubs. An impressive fitness center is joined by an outdoor pool with private cabanas and its own lounge and bar. Landrace, the flagship restaurant, is helmed by the award-winning chef Steve McHugh, and serves an upscale, modern interpretation of classic Texan flavors; a second restaurant, the Mediterranean-inspired Moon’s Daughers, looks out over the city from the 20th floor.
