The small island of Réunion, located east of Madagascar in the Indian Ocean, is almost as well-known for its European air as for its volcano and waterfalls. Dina Morgabine, a boutique hotel set above the resort of L’Ermitage on the west coast, embodies a mix of French flair and tropical style. Modern guest rooms have cheerfully painted walls, colorful murals, rattan furnishings, walk-in showers, and fine linens; many have balconies facing the sea and some feature small kitchens. There’s a beautiful swimming pool with an adjacent cocktail bar and a terrace where live musicians perform after dark. The morning after, the open-air breakfast buffet offers a unique and delicious array of French dishes and locally grown fruits.
