The golden sands and clear blue waters of a remote Greek island has long set the scene for romance, and so it makes sense that the tranquil, White Pebble Suites taps into Greece’s reputation as an escape for loved up couples and honeymooners. In fact, it has a love story all of its own: after three Greek Australian friends travelled to Milos to reconnect with their roots, they fell so hard for its charms that the trio made a more permanent commitment to island by opening the boutique hotel. The blocky whitewashed buildings take their design cues from a traditional Cycladic village and house just twelve couple-friendly suites, each with sea-view terraces and eight with private plunge pools. The well-connected team has access to a Rolodex full of local experts, from chefs and skippers to geologists and walking guides, who can lead various activities around the island and its waters. Alternatively, for doing nothing at all, there’s a spa with treatments based around the beneficial beauty properties of Greek olive oil and local plants. To enhance the intimate feel the usual hotel restaurant is replaced by private room service, and more relaxed and romantic al fresco poolside dining.
