About Les Hautes Mers - Fontenille Collection
Les Domaines de Fontenille may be best known for their fine little Provençal farmhouse hotels, but that’s changing as the brand expands across France and beyond. Les Hauts Mers lies off the west coast, on the dramatic Île d’Yeu, within walking distance of the island’s main port; and yet from here, on a parcel of land that looks straight out over the Atlantic, the sensation is one of pure seaside seclusion. With 17 rooms and suites Les Hauts Mers is right in the sweet spot where a small and intimate escape can justify a bit of infrastructure. Here that means Vent Debout, a very fine seafood-focused restaurant, as well as a lovely little heated outdoor pool. Like all of the Fontenille establishments, there’s nothing ostentatious about it — this is a subtle and self-assured sort of luxury living.
